Metabolic Syndrome – Are you at risk?

Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is a health condition everyone is talking about. It's not a disease in itself but a group of risk factors-- increased blood pressure, a high blood sugar level,

excess body fat around the waist and abnormal
cholesterol levels
— increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Obviously having any one of these risk factors isn't good but when they're combined they double your risk.

Do one quick self-evaluation.

1. Measure your waistline.
Risky =  35 in (89cm) for women and 40 in (102cm) for men

Obviously leading a healthy lifestyle is your best bet to
ensure you aren’t at a higher risk.  If you’re taking vitamins
and supplements, DO your research.  Very few produce the results
they promise, in fact those one-a-day pills can actually be doing more harm than good.

Educate yourself!

Here are some great websites to get your started!
